McLellan has wide ranging expertise across the copper value chain from extraction and refining through to the manufacture of finished products such as seamless copper tube. We also have significant experience in the fields of bulk materials handling, concentrate processing and handling as well as copper recycling.
The copper contained within most commercially exploited ores is of a low grade and is therefore processed using various techniques to produce copper concentrate. This is further processed through methods including smelting and electrolytic refining to produce copper cathode. The high purity copper cathode can be used for the manufacture of downstream products such as bars, rods, wire and seamless tube or they can be re-melted and alloyed to form articles of brass, bronze or other alloys.
McLellan has considerable experience of working in the copper sector, with projects ranging from feasibility studies for copper smelters and seamless copper tube plants, though to technical due diligence activities and failure investigations for the insurance industry.
