Power Distribution

McLellan specialises in planning and designing safe and cost-effective electrical distribution systems from network supply to the end-user.

Our skills and experience in this sector enables us to offer a range of services for the design of new systems as well as upgrades or extensions to existing infrastructure. We have extensive experience of design, project engineering, site supervision and maintenance of electrical transmission and distribution systems, including the design, planning and installation of:

  • LV, MV and HV electrical sub-stations
  • LV, MV and HV oil and gas filled cables
  • Connection of private wire systems including overhead lines
  • Connection of ‘private’ generation plants to the grid

McLellan also conducts parameter measurement, equipment design and specification as well as installation and commissioning of power system compensation equipment to minimise VAr swing, voltage flicker and harmonic problems. As part of power system studies, McLellan is also able to carry out static and dynamic studies including:

  • Static studies including load flow, fault level and harmonic analysis
  • Load flow analysis to determine the loading of cables and other distribution, together with voltage profiles for normal and abnormal operating conditions
  • Protection co-ordination

Industry standard software is utilised by our in-house engineers in carrying out studies.
