At McLellan, we believe health and safety management should be at the heart of every project. Ensuring the safety of employees, contractors and other parties by maintaining a safe place of work as well as informed and safety-conscious personnel is crucial to delivering a project successfully. McLellan provides health and safety consulting services across a range of industrial sectors with special emphasis on health and safety within construction projects.

For industrial projects involving extensive amounts of equipment and machinery, the potential for safety hazards occurring is high, if they are not identified and managed effectively. Familiarisation of project personnel with the relevant health and safety procedures as well as observance of safety procedures by all, help to ensure that the risk of health and safety issues arising is kept to a minimum.

McLellan has decades of experience working on industrial projects in a wide range of sectors around the world. Using our expertise, McLellan can assist clients with:

  • Producing a defined health and safety plan that is in line with the local laws and regulations, the client’s requirements, any relevant contractors’ requirements as well as any other applicable rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Putting in place the necessary health and safety resources to carry out regular inspections as well as ensure that high standards of safety are maintained.
  • Establishing a health and safety induction programme so that all project personnel, contractors and visitors to projects sites are aware of, and comply with, the health and safety procedures.

Since the introduction of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) in the UK, McLellan has assisted many clients through providing consultancy services on meeting these regulations. In April 2015, CDM 2007 was revoked and replaced with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015). McLellan's CDM services are provided across a range of industrial and commercial sectors and include:

  • Preparation of the pre-tender health and safety plan
  • Review and audit service designed to identify potential problem areas and highlight any deficiencies in meeting CDM Regulations
  • Acting as Principal Designer (PD)
  • Site health and safety supervision
  • Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP)

To meet health and safety regulations, it is necessary to have a thorough understanding of the regulations as well as have a technical appreciation for and experience of the work to be undertaken. McLellan offers both. We are able to provide consultancy services on other health and safety regulations including:

  • Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) Regulations
  • ATEX
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
  • CE Marking

McLellan, with our experience in a wide variety of industries, including some of the most hazardous, can utilise our expertise in accident/incident investigations and risk assessments. We are able to support and advise our clients in discussions and negotiations with regulatory authorities and insurance companies as well as provide expert witness services.
