Senior Electrical Engineer

As part of an expanding workload we need to increase our Electrical Engineering Team with particular focus on electrical distribution systems for industrial, manufacturing facilities, transmission and distribution. We are looking to recruit a SEE with experience across a range of sectors to help deliver technically challenging solutions for a variety of complex engineering issues. The successful candidate will be a key member in our team – focussing on the reliable delivery of the best technical expertise in our chosen fields.

The successful candidate will be capable of project execution in the following areas:

  • Cable sizing
  • Electrical system studies
  • Fault level, load flow, arc flash, insulation co-ordination, power quality analysis and protection co-ordination
  • Grid connections
  • Development and optimisation of power systems analysis
  • Preparation of technical reports, specifications, schedules and operating procedures
  • Planning and implementation of electrical works from feasibility study through to commissioning and handover
  • Planning of power systems activities
  • Support and preparation of both technical and commercial proposals
  • Supporting project management activities for industrial projects as required.


  • Qualified at degree level in Electrical Engineering or Electrical / Electronic Engineering
  • Familiarity with system study software packages (DIgSILENT PowerFactory, IPSA, ATP, ERACS and AMTECH)
  • Specialisation in 3 areas of Power Systems Analysis
  • Qualifications and experience leading to Chartered Engineer Status
  • 4 - 8 years relevant experience of electrical design and projects
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations (Grid Code, D-Code, P28, G5/4-1, P29, G74, IEC909, 17th Edition, Electricity at Work Act, ESQCR etc.)
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good motivational skills
  • Good task allocation skills, ability to deliver on time to required quality
  • Willingness to undertake reasonable business travel as required to meet project deadlines
  • Right to work in the UK.


  • Familiarity with DSL programming within PowerFactory
  • Member of professional institution
  • Commercial and financial awareness
  • Knowledge / experience of design assurance and verification and validations processes
  • Consultancy experience
  • Research or Committee member of international or national standards
